Nanny Dies - Hidden Treasure Found

Vivian Maier (February 1, 1926 – April 21, 2009) was an American amateur street photographer who was born in New York but grew up in France, and after returning to the U.S., worked for about forty years as a nanny in Chicago. During those years she took about 100,000 photographs, primarily of people and cityscapes most often in Chicago, although she traveled and photographed worldwide.
Her photographs remained unknown and mostly undeveloped until they were discovered by a local historian, John Maloof, in 2007. Following Maier's death her work began to receive critical acclaim.[1][2] Her photographs have appeared in newspapers in Italy, Argentina, and England, and have been exhibited alongside other artists' work in Denmark and Norway; her first solo exhibition ran at the Chicago Cultural Center from January 8 until April 3, 2011

Dumbo, an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass,[1] is a neighborhood in the New York City, New York, borough of Brooklyn. It encompasses two sections; one located between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges, which connect Brooklyn to Manhattan across the East River, and another which continues east from the Manhattan Bridge to the Vinegar Hill area. The neighborhood is part of Brooklyn Community Board 2. Jerry Seinfeld once referred to Dumbo on a late-night talk show appearance, joking that it stands for "Down Under Manhattan Bridge," but that New Yorkers arbitrarily added the "O" at the end because they did not want to have a neighborhood called "Dumb."

Ok so this is pretty cool.

I've started shooting for my next video. Peter V Gallery and Framing
to our left, is going to frame two portraits painted by my grandfather, below. The portraits were painted by my grandfather while he was still in Russia. So that's like in the 20's.

The first portrait is my grandfather Nick. The second portrait is my great grand father Constantine.

Both were Church Painters. I come from a long line of Russian Church Painters.

The paintings are beautiful and I selected two brilliant Old School frames for the paintings. These are going to be classic. Old school paintings in old school frames. The video will be a before and after.

I can't wait.

Rosehill Cemetery - a Brief History of Chicago

A tour of Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood.
Rosehill Cemetery is a Victorian era cemetery on the North Side of Chicago, Illinois, USA, and at 350 acres (1.4 km2), is the largest cemetery in the City of Chicago. The name "Rosehill" resulted from a City Clerk's error – the area was previously called "Roe's Hill", named for nearby farmer Hiram Roe. He refused to sell his land to the city until it was promised that the cemetery be named in his honor.[2]
Rosehill's Joliet-limestone entrance gate was designed by William W. Boyington, the architect of the Chicago Water Tower and the Old University of Chicago, who is buried in Rosehill. As Rosehill Cemetery Administration Building and Entry Gate, it was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1975.[1]
Like its sister cemetery Graceland, Rosehill is the burial place of many well-known Chicagoans. The cemetery contains many monuments that are notable for their beauty and eccentricity, such as that of Lulu Fellows.[1]
Several graves from the old City Cemetery, originally located in what is now Lincoln Park were relocated to Rosehill. Some of the gravestones and monuments were also moved to Rosehill Cemetery and can be seen. Monuments relocated from City Cemetery are generally encased in protective glass.
Rosehill was featured in the films U.S. Marshals, Backdraft, and Next of Kin.
