Flea Market Kart

We go to the Grayslake flea market every other month, or so. Last time we had way too much stuff. Decanters, geodes, figurines, rocks, etcetera, etcetera. It was getting heavy. And my back started aching. So I grabbed a cart. Gina was like, "It's taking forever with that huge freaking cart". I was like, yeah but my back feels much better. This weekend I'm taking my folding dolly, with a couple of milk crates and a tie down. Much easier on the back.

Solar Eclipse 2017

Mark your calendar. August twenty first, two thousand seventeen. 8/21/17 There's going to be an eclipse. The west coast will see the eclipse peak at 10:15 am. Here in Chicago the eclipse will peak at 1:19 pm. On the east coast the eclipse will peak at 2:42 pm. Most of America will see a partial eclipse. Those in the totality zone from Oregon to South Carolina will see a total eclipse. If you want to view the eclipse, get some eclipse glasses. Or better still, look at the shadow of a tree. The leaves project little moons into the shadow. Don't view the eclipse with your sunglasses. Your eyes will fry.

Uber is in trouble with the human rights community. Why is that? Uber lowered rates at LaGuardia when Taxi drivers struck to protest the Trump Muslim travel ban. Wait, you're pissed cause Uber was charging less? Twitter users rallied with #deleteuber. I have deleted the Uber app. You don't even use Uber. Rival Lyft pledged $1 million dollars to the ACLU. And Uber pledged to create a $3 million legal fund for Uber drivers. Uber CEO Travis Kalanick is a member of Trump’s economic advisory group. Travis is urging the government to reinstate U.S. travel rights for residents, whatever their country of origin. Uber's website was flooded with complaints. “You work with Trump, I’ll work with Lyft,” read one complaint. So you downloaded the Lyft app, and will never use it. Give me that. I'm not working with Trump. You're not working with anybody.

Doomsday Clock

The 2017 doomsday clock has been reset to two and a half minutes to midnight. It is the first time since the cold war in 1960 that the clock has had less than three minutes to midnight. The Trump white house's denial of climate change, their promise of nuclear escalation, their embrace of falsehoods pawned off as alternative facts, and their cyber manipulation of our democratic process, have led editors at the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists to take time off of their Doomsday Clock. Scientists at the Bulletin stated, "It's almost the end of the world and we have to say things like "Facts are Good". The ironic thing is their Doomsday clock is not based on science or fact.

Haunted Circus Cemetery

In 1918 a Hagenbeck-Wallace circus train got rear ended by another train. Sixty one circus workers in the rear sleeping cars were instantly killed. Four days later they were buried at Wood Lawn Cemetery. Five elephant statues mark the boundaries of Showmen's Rest. On the gravestones, the dates of death are all marked June 22, 1918. Beneath is a mass grave containing the remains of clowns, trapeze artists, strongmen and other circus performers. Legend has it that the elephants were buried where they lay. Locals claim to hear the haunted cries of the elephants at night.

So I was driving home from the store, thinking about yesterday's video / blog posting. I decided to change the name of the YouTube video to Whitehouse Zillow. That's mostly what the video is about. I did throw in a little snarl about politicians, referencing the meme I threw in at the end of the video.

People are so hung up on their guy getting in or not getting in that they miss the big picture. I'm just saying. Do you think Donald is that much better or worse than Barack? I don't. But that's not really what the video is about, now is it?

Zillow has a listing for The Whitehouse. Four hundred fifty million. That's an upgrade for Donald. His penthouse in New York is only worth 100 million. Obama's renting a DC house worth only 6 million. Quite the downgrade for Barack. But he won't miss the Whitehouse. I'm sure he and Michelle are happy to leave.

Super 8 Revival

Kodak first manufactured the Super 8 in 1965. Super 8 defined amateur movie making for 30 years. But then came the 80's and video replaced film. And now Super 8 has had a bit of a resurgence. Danish Company Logmar released a new Super 8 camera in 2013.  Specialty companies are selling refurbished Super 8's. Prices for Super 8's are rising on EBay. They must be selling some film cause Kodak is once again coming out with a Super 8 camera.
